EAA CHAPTER 675
PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE

WHAT'S FLYIN' THIS WAY !!!
Our chapter open house is one of the biggest impacts we have on the public each year. Last year, we had twelve airplanes on display and all were a big hit. Potentially we could have a Citabria, a Q-2, RV-6, Taylor Monoplane, Mustang II, Avid Flyer, C-150, C-172, C182, Myers OTW, Chueng's RV project, a Diamond Star 40, a WWI bomber, and other in-process airplane projects and parts displays, even if not assembled; all are encouraged to bring what you have. When people see that we are involved in more than just flying, it makes it more interesting for them.
The public time for the open house is Sat, June, 11th from 1 to 5 pm. Members able to show a plane should have it in place by 12:30 pm at the latest. If members could also make up a sign, of your own design, to slip over the propeller, to tell the type of aircraft, weight, speed, engine type etc., that would be appreciated. If you have a scrapbook showing the construction process, bring the photos of your project.
DO BRING your own lawn chairs and card table to put info on. We can set these up in and around the trees by the circle driveway. Do bring some coolers with ice and an assortment of pop to sell (or give) to thirsty folks.
Garry is preparing a news release for the TR (with photos), and the radio stations to run next week. That should take care of local publicity. Encourage your neighbors, friends and relatives to come out for a nice time. All other EAA chapters in Iowa are welcome to participate.

PROJECT REPORTS
Doug Boyd
has a pretty nice exhaust now!

Ron Hodges has his Legal Eagle fuselage about finished. He has started on the wings. Ribs and one spar are done.
Corey Butcher has the Voisin together and is doing the final assembly. May or may not be at the open house.

The chapter website has moved to a more secure and stable server. This should accommodate all who have had browser problems in the past. Take a look and give me your comments, suggestions and ideas.

May 2005 Activities

Waiting for Flight

Newest Young Eagles!

Joe Kuberka and Garry

Les and Y.E. Ready to Take Off

It WAS a Busy Month!

Joe Kuberka of Blue Goose Aviation in Colorado gave an excellent presentation on mountain flying. I think all who attended came away with an new appreciation for flying in the mountains. And it was nice of Joe to lean more on the how-to, than the sign-up-now.
The next day was kind of blustery and cool, but Garry Brandenburg, Les Risius, Ron Brestel, and Tom Dillman managed to fly another 40+ Sea Cadets for our Young Eagles Day before the wind and rain shut things down. All Cadets that had not flown before DID get into the air. A big thanks to all who helped with the paper work and crowd control.
